Every few years someone on the design team proposes updating this bag's proportions. Every few years the proposal is tested against the original and loses. The dimensions were set by measuring what a laptop, a folder and a water bottle actually require, not by what looked best in a rendering — which is why it has survived multiple design regimes unchanged.
Every seam is saddle-stitched by hand using waxed linen thread — a technique that, unlike machine stitching, won't unravel if a single thread is cut.
Full-grain calfskin, sourced from a single French tannery. Brushed brass hardware.
Origin — Loire Valley, France
Delivered with a protective dust bag and care kit. Condition the leather twice yearly; avoid prolonged direct sun.
